Director of Training
Position Overview:
The Director of Training will oversee the development, coordination, and implementation of training programs for providers of Supported and other Employment services for people with disabilities in North Carolina. This role involves managing contractors, coordinating with trainers and agencies, and ensuring high-quality training delivery. The Director will also be responsible for planning and executing two annual conferences.
This position reports to the Chair of NCAPSE and the Executive Committee of the Board of NCAPSE and works closely with state agencies, including NCDHHS and Vocational Rehabilitation (EIPD), to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training Program Oversight:
- Develop and manage training programs for Employment providers.
- Ensure training content aligns with best practices, state requirements, and guidelines of NCDHHS and its various Divisions.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Contractor & Trainer Coordination:
- Identify, recruit, and manage training contractors and subject matter experts.
- Oversee contract negotiations and agreements for trainers.
- Provide guidance and support to trainers to ensure consistency and quality in training delivery.
- Agency & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary liaison between E1A and the following entities: NCAPSE, NCDHHS, Vocational Rehabilitation (EIPD), and service providers.
- Build and maintain relationships with agencies, ensuring their training needs are met.
- Communicate training opportunities and updates to stakeholders.
- Conference Planning & Execution:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee two annual training conferences.
- Manage event logistics, including venue/event operational logistics, speaker coordination, and program development.
- Collaborate with marketing and outreach teams to ensure strong attendance and engagement.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure training programs meet state and federal regulations for Employment services.
- Monitor program outcomes and provide data-driven reports to NCAPSE and various funding entities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, policies, and best practices.
- Administrative & Budget Management:
- Develop and manage budgets for training initiatives and conferences.
- Oversee grant applications and reporting related to training programs.
- Ensure timely documentation and reporting of training activities.
- Will serve as the recording secretary for the soon to be created Foundation Board: take and distribute meeting minutes, schedule and set up Foundations Board Meetings.
- Will report on activities to the NCAPSE Chapter Board and the soon to be created NCAPSE Foundation at their quarterly meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, disability studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience in training program development, adult education, or workforce development.
- Knowledge of Supported and other Employment services, disability employment programs, and related policies.
- Strong project management and event planning skills.
- Experience working with state agencies, particularly NCDHHS and EIPD (Vocational Rehabilitation).
- Knowledge of state contracts and the Budget process.
- Experience working with contractors for E1A activities, speakers, support staff, conference centers, Hotels, etc.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work with diverse stakeholders.
- Member of NCAPSE
Salary: The NCAPSE/E1A will commit $13,000, the remainder of any annual salary and related costs, must be generated by the Director through training opportunities, contracts, and sponsorships developed by the Director. Additional compensation through new sponsorships will be 10% of any new conference sponsorships not to include those that are reoccurring.
