Update from the Legislative Chair of NCAPSE:
This session is a short session and the new funding that we got for long term support
last year in the long session will be continued this year. The DD Consortium sent
a letter to the Legislative Oversight Committee expressing our disappointment and
frustration that there were no new dollars for DD services in their bill. However,
it looks like there will be none this session. They are putting things in fast motion
and plan to have the budget passed by July 1. The new dollars that are recommended
will primarily go to crisis services and other services for those with mental illness
and substance abuse issues. We need to really plan for the long session. If you
have any questions, please call Kathy Bryan at 919-
